Philip L. Fradkin (February 28, 1935 – July 8, 2012)〔(Philip Fradkin, Writer Who Explored Themes of the West, Dies at 77 )〕 was an American environmentalist historian, journalist and author. Fradkin authored books ranging from Alaska, California and Nevada, with topics ranging from water conservation, earthquakes, and nuclear weapons. Fradkin attended Montclair Kimberley Academy, graduating in the class of 1953.〔(Alumni Awards ), Montclair Kimberley Academy. Accessed March 6, 2011.〕 In 1964, Fradkin began working for the ''Los Angeles Times'', and the following year was part of the metropolitan staff awarded a Pulitzer Prize for its work on the 1965 Watts riots.〔(Philip L.
